CONEY ISLAND FILM SOCIETY
Saturday, July 5th, 8:30pm - Freaks

Dir. Tod Browning, 1932. Director Tod Browning cast authentic circus folk (many who performed at Coney Island), not actors, in this Greek tragedy about sideshow "freaks." Normal-sized trapeze artist Cleopatra (Olga Baclanova) marries diminutive Hans (Harry Earles) with plans to poison him, take his inheritance and marry the brute Hercules (Henry Victor). When the freaks uncover Cleopatra's scheme and Hercules forces himself on an innocent girl, they gang up on the two miscreants. Wallace Ford also stars.

Coney Island Museum, 1208 Surf Ave.
between Stillwell Ave. and West 12th Street

Tickets $5, $3 for Film Society members. Doors open at 8pm Pre-show at 8:15pm featuring classic drive in trailers, shorts, old commercials and more. Films start at 8:30pm. Free Popcorn!!

To become a Film Society member, join at our Coney Island USA Do-Gooder Membership level. Existing Coney Island USA members at the Do-Gooder or higher level are automatically Film Society Members!

CONEY ISLAND MUSEUM

steeplechase Man
Since 1980, Coney Island USA has told the story of why Coney Island is important enough to one day retake its place at the cultural center of New York. The Coney Island Museum is at the heart of that mission. Its the only public repository documenting the history and culture of this important neighborhood. We fight to keep the history of this critical piece of American popular culture from being lost to the inevitable changes facing Coney Island today.

Ask the Experts
Sunday, July 6th, 4pm - Dr. Merryl Kafka, Curator of Education, New York Aquarium - Life on the Seashore: History, Resources, and Responsibility.

$5, Free to Coney Island USA members

Come join us on weekends, year-round. Admission is $.99 cheap!
